WTIU holds Kids Day at WonderLab

Special activities, included with museum admission, will be offered from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Highlights:

  • Writer`s Workshop Drop-in for an ongoing lesson in creating your own story! Experts will be on hand to help you create characters, settings, and plots for your very own stories, as well as provide forms and information for entering the local WTIU KIDS PBS Writers Contest for a chance to win prizes and even national acclaim!
  • Media Labs From science education with Sid the Science Kid to coloring with the Cat in the Hat, we’ll help kids and parents alike navigate the latest PBS KIDS apps on iPads, Amazon FIRE, and Nook tablets.
  • WTIU’s The Weekly Special “Teleprompter ExperienceYou’re the star! Take turns reading a TV teleprompter using a script from a WTIU program – or write your own! Then, let a friend take a turn, and watch on the big screen as your friend tries to read the scrolling text just like a real newscaster.
  • PBS Kids Photo Booth Enter the WTIU Kids photo booth with a special background and get a free keepsake photo that prints while you wait.
  • PBS Kids Costumed Character Meet your favorite PBS KIDS character live and in person, and bring your smartphone to take a picture!
  • Watch New Episodes of Popular Shows Take a break and enjoy the latest episodes of PBS KIDS newest shows, PEG + Cat and ODD Squad, playing on the big screen.

WTIU Kids Day at WonderLab is made possible in part with grant support from Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington, the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, the Indiana Arts Commission, and the National Endowment for the Arts. WonderLab is an award-winning science museum and family destination located at 308 West Fourth Street on the B-Line Trail in the heart of the downtown Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD). The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. General admission is $7.00. Children under the age of one are free.
