A NEW GALLERY WALK CAMPAIGN: RED DOT IT!

We want you to not only appreciate art on this next walk but to also RED DOT IT!

#REDDOTIT (this will be our hashtag via social media)

By purchasing a piece of art, you are supporting local artists and galleries. After your purchase we will mark the piece with a red dot, signifying your appreciation for the arts. The “Red Dot It” campaign runs through 2014.

Help us keep the art community alive and well and “Red Dot It.”

Red dot (def.) — The red dot sticker or mark on an artist/price card indicates that the art piece has been sold. This is an American gallery tradition. During the exhibitions, the art is sold and marked with the red dots, but it stays on display until the closing of the exhibit.

Visit http://gallerywalkbloomington.com/ for show details and a map, including our most recent participant, the Bloomington Monroe County Convention Center!

Show Information Designed and Printed by Jarod Isenbarger of In Case of Emergency Press

Show Date August1 st – Sept 27th

Show Description Join us at our new downtown location off the Courthouse Square to celebrate August Gallery Walk. The exhibit displays the work of Jarod Isenbarger, local printmaker and artist. The show is about transformation: the process of an idea translating into a final image. All prints focus on the practice of screen printing, demonstrating the uses of repetitive marks and textures to create movement and atmosphere. Looking to postmodern abstract movements for inspiration, Isenbarger takes a minimal concept and makes it complicated or vice versa. Aside from the commissioned posters, pieces are generally based on feelings of constant pressure yet balancing on the cusp of some sort of release.

Show Information Color Forms of Our Universe by Martha Kaplan

Show Date August1 st – Sept 27th

Show Description ”The content of color paints our days and nights. We prefer certain colors and color combinations, Colors have dispositions indicative of regions, origins, harmonics”. The 32 pieces of fine contemporary art, created by Martha Kaplan, are from three different series. The ‘New Kachinas’ are graphite and colored pencils and are a leap of faith from the side of the mind that is new territory. ‘Large Lace Paperworks’ are mixed media drawings setting out to restructure the disparities of the burdens of the world and ‘Pastels’ are the bridge where conscious and unconscious space can meet.

GEOLOCATION by Nate Larson + Marni Shindelman What are we hoping to reveal about ourselves when we share our thoughts and feelings on platforms like Facebook and Twitter?
