“The Elegance of Amy Greely”, a Demonstration at The Venue

On Tuesday, June 4rd, The Venue will host a demonstration of metalsmithing/jewelrymaking  by artist Amy Greely.

Amy began her art education at the Herron School of Art. Further studies at Indiana University provided knowledge and experience in traditional metalsmithing techniques. In 1998 the Amy Greely Studio offered its first line of jewelry. Represented at The Venue and other prestigious galleries throughout the country, Amy has now been juried into the Indiana Artisan Group.

In Amy’s hands, sterling silver is formed, textured and enhanced with an array of patina choices offering a rich and varied palette. Further additions of gold/silver bi-metal add another layer of contrasts resulting in a fresh approach to traditional processes. Using simple shapes as a canvas and precious metal as a medium, surface textures and color become a language of their own. Each piece is a tiny body sculpture that helps communicate the personal sensibilities of the wearer.

Refreshments will be served, and our fine selection of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and artistic handcrafted gifts will also be on display for purchase. Free parking is available in the lot at 4th and Grant.
