Job Opening: Executive Director for the Monroe County Historical Society
The Monroe County Historical Society (Monroe County History Center) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director oversees the management of the organization, which includes a local history museum, a local history library, a museum store, and a variety of programs and special events. The candidate should have a good understanding of Indiana history and knowledge/experience in nonprofit management. The candidate must have the ability to manage a nonprofit organization, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with outstanding interpersonal and organizational abilities. Business strengths should include strong computer skills, personnel, financial and facilities management experience. The director manages staff and works with the board, committees, and volunteers. Bachelor’s degree in museum management or related field preferred, with at least two years of experience desired.  Requires flexible work schedule, including some evening and weekends. Cardinal Stage Company presents Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

Based on the classic 1971 Gene Wilder film, the production features all the songs you remember from the film along with a few more. In this fun, imaginative adventure, the eccentric Willy Wonka and his Oompa Loompas lead the sweet-natured Charlie Bucket on the tour of a life time through a fantastical chocolate factory. Bring the whole family to visit this world of pure imagination this holiday season. Arts Fair on the Square Call to Artists!

A city committed to the arts, Bloomington boasts a richly diverse and educated community in the beautiful Midwest landscape of Southern Indiana. Arts Fair on the Square takes place on June 21, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the picturesque grounds surrounding the Monroe County Courthouse in the heart of downtown Bloomington. The Bloomington Playwrights Project invites YOU to participate in the 34th Annual Arts Fair on the Square. This juried art show features 80 regional and national artists and craftspeople. Bloomington Open Studios Tour Call to Artists
Participate in the third annual Bloomington Open Studios Tour, scheduled for the weekend of June 6-8, 2014.  The 2013 Open Studios Tour featured 40+ artists in 22 studios throughout the Bloomington area and attracted more than 500 visitors.  In 2012 there were 50+ artists in 17 locations.  This event is an opportunity for visual artists to share their artworks with the public in the informal setting of their own studio, or a shared studio somewhere else.  It’s an opportunity for you to feature new and in-progress artworks, have live demonstrations, schmooze/chat with art lovers, and potentially add new collectors to your list of art buyers.  http://bloomingtonopenstudiostour.com/index.php/2014-application.  The deadline for applications is January 1, 2014.

Art of Chocolate Call to Artists
2014 Art of Chocolate Local Art Show & Sale: Artwork is displayed in Bloomington for sale Dec. and Jan. Most artwork is also displayed at the Art of Chocolate event at the Indiana University Art Museum on Sunday, January 26th. Local display locations include Showers Building, Lennie’s, Bloomingfoods, medical offices & more!. It is hosted by LIFEDesigns & the Indiana University Art Museum. Proceeds to benefit YOU (the artist) and LIFEDesigns. Info & Application at weekofchocolate.com. City of Bloomington Parks Department Seeking Performers for 2014 Performing Arts Series
The 2014 schedule of performances includes Peoples Park Tuesday Lunch Concerts, May through August; The Waldron, Hill, and Buskirk Park (Third Street Park), June through August; and Bryan Park, Sundays in July and August. Application deadline is 5 p.m. on December 16. Application and more information here.
