Six Communities to Receive Arts Commission Cultural Planning Consultancies

The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that six Indiana communities have been approved for the second iteration of the agency’s Vibrant Communities cultural planning consultancy project.

“Increasingly we see communities of all sizes and from all geographic regions of our state recognizing the power of the arts in enhancing job creation and quality of life that help build stronger, more thriving places to live and work,” said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC Executive Director.

The six communities, Decatur, Evansville, Lawrence, Madison, Terre Haute, and Westfield were selected from 34 that were eligible to apply for the consultancy opportunities after taking part in one of the IAC’s Vibrant Communities colloquia conducted in either fall of 2011 or this June. The colloquia were part of a partnership between the IAC and Ball State University’s Building Better Communities program.

Each of the consultancies approved this fall will be tailored to the unique cultural needs of the eligible communities.

Consultancies are expected to begin January and continue through June, 2014. Consultants are matched by the IAC with the respective communities.

For more information about the cultural planning consultancies, please contact Kristina Davis by calling 317-232-1279 or email kdavis-smith@iac.in.gov.

The Indiana Arts Commission is dedicated to the vision of the arts everywhere, everyday, for everyone in Indiana.
