On Friday, August 23rdh, beginning at 6:00pm, The Venue will host a reception for the Artist and an Exhibition of the never-before shown paintings of Sayuri Helm. Sayuri holds a BFA in Fine Art from Cornell University, and a MA in Painting from the University of Wisconsin. She has also studied art and painted in Japan. While she has exhibited in galleries around the country in the past, as a new member of the Bloomington Art Community, this exhibit at The Venue is her first Bloomington Show.

The paintings in “The Lights of Kirkwood” display Sayuri’s style of using vivid color and a paucity of line to capture the essence of a scene. She combines her western art education and her educational and cultural influences from Japan to produce this unique balance of color and minimalism. In honor of her new home, Kirkwood Avenue is her chosen subject. In a variety of sizes and at reasonable prices, her colors are hot and her paintings are cool.

The Venue will provide refreshments and our complete collection of Fine Art and Gifts will also be on display for viewing and purchase. Parking is available in the lot on the corner of 4th and Grant. We are pleased to début Sayuri Helm.  Join Us.

This exhibition will run at The Venue until August 29th.
