The Poet Laureate of The Venue, Shanna Ritter

On Tuesday, August 20th, beginning at 5:30pm. The Venue will host a reading by Shana Ritter, educator, author and poet. Shana was originally from New York and lived in Guatemala and Spain before making Bloomington her home. A graduate of the University of Buffalo, she has been the Coordinator of The Equity Project, a part of the Center for Evaluation and Education Policy at Indiana University.

Shana’s poetry and prose have been published in various regional and national publications, and she is a two time recipient of grants from The Indiana Arts Commission. She is a frequent host on “Profiles”, on WFIU, and has been a guest reader on “The Poets Weave”. Her writing and readings are engaging, entertaining and profound. Shanna’s reading will include both poetry and prose, old and new. She is truly a talented wordsmith.

Refreshments will be provided by The Venue. Our fine selection of paintings, jewelry, ceramics, and other gifts will also be on display and available for purchase. Free parking is available in the lot on the corner of 4th and Grant.
