Limestone Symposium Artists Demonstrate Carving at WonderLab’s First Friday Science of Art

Bloomington, Indiana – Meet and watch Limestone Symposium artists as they demonstrate the art and science of carving during First Friday Evening: Limestone Carving on June 7 at the WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology in Bloomington. Related visitor activities include making your own sidewalk chalk, exploring geometric shapes while drawing a simple ‘blueprint’ of a famous limestone building, and creating a diorama of a quarry with real pieces of limestone. Educational literature from the Limestone Institute of America will be available to take home.
First Friday Evening Science of Art’s purpose is to expose visitors of all ages to a different artistic medium each month, as well as to show the connections between art and science. The program is made possible with support from F. Rudolf Turner; the City of Bloomington Arts Commission; and the Indiana Arts Commission with Ivy Tech Community College – Bloomington, the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Half-price general admission ($3.50) is in effect from 5:00 pm until the museum closes at 8:30 pm. The activities are recommended for all ages and are included with museum admission. A small plate meal, freshly prepared by Bloomingfoods, will be available to buy ($2.50) in the WonderLab cafe.
