Arts Commission announces public meetings on proposed grant program modifications

(Indianapolis, Indiana) – The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today it will convene three public information sessions February 13, 2013 to review proposed modifications to its grant programs to arts organizations and cultural program providers.

The meetings will be held via conference call and will review proposed changes to the IAC’s Regional Arts Operating Support grants (AOS I, AOS II), Arts Project Support (APS), and Multi-Regional/AOS III Grant programs. The meetings are scheduled to last 30 minutes, including time for participant feedback.

The proposed changes are the result of a year-long review by a study committee comprised of current and former Regional Arts Partners, current and former IAC commissioners, and IAC staff, and the information sessions are designed to elicit feedback from program participants.

Conference calls for AOS I, AOS II, and APS organizations are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. (EST). The conference call session for AOS III organizations is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The meeting presentation will be posted on the IAC website February 13 prior to the conference call sessions. Advance registration is required to participate in the meetings.

“In 2010 we made significant changes to the structure of many of our grant programs, and since then we have monitored the impact of those changes,” said IAC Executive Director Lewis C. Ricci. “The proposals we will review reflect continued efforts to refine the grant programs to make them more efficient, consistent, and equitable.”

Three primary goals of the changes include: greater equity in grants for similar-sized organizations with similar-sized budgets; simplification of administration of IAC grants throughout the state; and to provide reoccurring grant consistency and reassurance for arts organizations and their program planning.

The information sessions will present proposed grant award levels and scoring for each of the IAC’s operating and program support categories based on assumed level funding of the IAC at current fiscal year allocations. Following the presentations there will be an opportunity for questions. Organizations unable to participate in the February 13 sessions will be able to access a meeting summary from the IAC website by Monday, February 18 and encouraged to provide email feedback.
