Nine Indiana Cultural Providers to Receive NEA Grants

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) recently announced the federal agency will award 832 grants totaling $23.3 million through its Art Works funding category. Not-for-profit arts organizations in 47 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will receive funding. Nine of those grants will be awarded to Indiana cultural providers.
The supported projects span 13 artistic disciplines and fields and focus primarily on the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing works for the benefit of American audiences. This grant announcement is the first of several for fiscal year 2013.
Indiana grants include:
ArtsIlliana, Terre Haute, IN $10,000
Indiana University (Traditional Arts Indiana), Bloomington, IN $20,000
Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indianapolis, IN $40,000
La Porte Symphony Orchestra, Inc., La Porte, IN $10,000
Music for All, Inc., Indianapolis, IN $20,000
New Harmony Project, Inc., Indianapolis, IN $20,000
Oakland City University, Oakland City, IN $10,000
University of Notre Dame du Lac, Notre Dame, IN $10,000
University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, IN $10,000.
Art Works is the NEA’s largest funding category. These grants emerged from 1,509 applications submitted by the March 2012 deadline. Among the 832 funded projects, 178 will have multi-state impact.
