Mindful Hike and Write Workshop at T.C. Steele State Historic Site

Renowned journalist and author John Muir once wrote that, “in every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” Muir’s philosophy will be in action on Saturday, October 20, as the T.C. Steele State Historic Site and the Writing for Change Foundation of Bloomington host a hike-and-write adult workshop on the grounds of T.C. Steele State Historic Site in Brown County.

This autumn adult workshop, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., will feature a guided, leisurely, one-mile hike, individual writing time, and opportunity for deep listening in a beautiful setting. During the workshop, participants will generate writing and create a space to share their words.

In the landscape of southern Indiana’s Brown County, participants can expect an environment of goodwill and generosity with a focus on finding what is strong in each other’s words and voices. New and seasoned writers are welcome.

The workshop will be facilitated by Writing for a Change Foundation of Bloomington faculty members Allison Distler and Beth Lodge-Rigal. Participants are asked to bring a notebook and pen, sturdy hiking shoes and water. Light snacks will be provided. The workshop is $30 per adult and to register for this event, contact the T.C. Steele State Historic Site at (812) 988-2785 or email Megan Richards, program developer, at mrichards@indianamuseum.org.
