Artist of the Week

Kelly Novak and the Bloomington Community

Kelly Novak is a graduate student in the metalsmithing program at the Indiana University Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts. She says, “I find inspiration for metals work in nature.” Kelly created the graceful leafy stems attached to the colorful “blossoms” made by people of all ages with WonderLab at the Fourth Street Festival Community Art Booth.
The public is invited to join Kelly in completing and installing this collaborative artwork in WonderLab’s garden during First Friday Evening Science of Art tonight at the museum from 5:00 to 8:30 pm. Activities include making more blossoms with recycled bicycle wheels and cloth materials, painting the metal stems, and watching as the sculptures are “planted” in the garden. Visitors also can make their own garden sculptures to take home.
