BEAD: New This Week

August City Hall Atrium Exhibit
During the month of August, BEAD will highlight selected arts projects funded by the Bloomington Arts Commission through the Arts Project Grant Program through a special exhibition in the Atrium of City Hall.  Seven organizations will be participating in the August exhibit; each was awarded a grant during the 2011 grant cycle. BCT Management, Inc., Bloomington Chamber Singers, Bloomington Playwrights Project, Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, Cardinal Stage Company, Ivy Tech John Waldron Art Center, and Windfall Dancers are the featured organizations. On exhibit will be descriptions, photographs, programs and other information about the funded projects. Come check it out!

BUEA and BEAD Grant Deadline Nearing
The Bloomington Urban Enterprise Association (BUEA) in partnership with BEAD will distribute funds through a new Bloomington Urban Enterprise Zone Arts Grant Program. This grant program will support arts projects that are located within the boundaries of the Bloomington Urban Enterprise Zone or that provide documented direct benefit to Urban Enterprise Zone residents (see the website for a map of the Zone).The maximum grant award is $4,000 and each applicant may be awarded only one grant. The deadline for applications is 5:00 pm, August 15, 2012. Guidelines and application for the program are available on the City of Bloomington website .

The Fuller Projects Deadline Nearing
Do you have an idea for an installation or show? Does your project fall outside of your current body of work? Is it experimental, collaborative, a bit risky, non-material or require public interaction? An exhibition in the Fuller Projects is your chance to try something entirely new. Plein Air Painting
Join Wyatt LeGrand and Roy Boswell Monday, August 6 on Kirkwood Avenue and Sunday, August 12 on Indiana Avenue as they paint in plein air to create works for their December show at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Art Center!  They plan to do over 100 paintings over the course of the week in various locations and encourage anyone in the area to come find them painting.
