BEAD Artist O’ the Week

Drew Etienne graduated with a BFA in Painting from Indiana University in 2009 and now lives and works in Bloomington. He creates large and small-scale landscape paintings in the vein of abstraction and surrealism. His work expresses a feeling of friction and tension between the natural world and man-made systems. His inspiration goes as far back as his childhood when he was living in Tennesee, situated between a mountain range and one of the largest chemical plants in the US. Now with his paintings he attempts to conceptualize and visualize the present and future of humanity, our obsession with technology and micro-realities, and how our behaviors affect the physical world around us. Check out Drew’s latest work, the traffic signal box located at the corner of 4th and College.
