City of Bloomington Arts Commission Announces Arts Project Grant Program Workshop

The Arts Commission will offer a drop-in workshop for potential applicants to its April 2012 Arts Project grant cycle on Wednesday, March 21 from 4 – 5 p.m. in the Hooker Conference Room in City Hall. Potential applicants are invited to bring questions as well as draft applications in progress for review and feedback by commission members. The drop-in workshop is first-come, first-served. Arts Project grants of up to $1,000 are available to nonprofit organizations participating in arts activities that align with the current areas of focus of the Arts Commission: to cultivate a community in which residents appreciate the value of personal and collective artistic activity; to encourage collaboration in and diversification of artistic activities that include participants from across the community; to enhance and support a high level of artistry; and to support the economic vitality and interests of local artists and arts organizations. Guidelines and application are available on the City of Bloomington website at www.bloomington.in.gov/bac. The BAC encourages all eligible organizations to apply. In 2011, 24 arts projects were supported through the program. Deadline for applications is 5 p.m. on April 2, 2012. For more information on the grant program, contact Miah Michaelsen, Assistant Economic Development Director for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or 812.349.3534.
